How Reiki Can Change Your Life

Harnessing Pure Life-Force Energy

Reiki is a form of hands-on healing that dates back thousands of years to its origins in India and the East. It is a method that allows the practitioner to access this pure energy and will enable it to flow through them to heal themselves and others.

Reiki means “Universal Life Force.”

Clearing energy blockages and encouraging life-giving energy to flow unencumbered throughout the body is the goal of every Reiki treatment.

Clearing energy blockages and encouraging life-giving energy to flow unencumbered throughout the body is the goal of every Reiki treatment. This holistic modality works on the body, mind, and spirit to stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities. By allowing the universal life force to flow through their body, the Reiki practitioner acts as a conduit directing healing and balancing energy into their client via specific hand placements.

Like other spiritual practices, Reiki is based on a core set of five principles. By focusing on the present moment, these concepts offer guidance for connecting with your life force energy.

The Reiki principles are simple, common-sense practices you can apply to everyday living, as well as your highest spiritual pursuits. Here are the Five Principles of Reiki and how you can use them to help boost your sense of well-being in various ways.

The Five Principles of Reiki

There are five Reiki principles that you can reflect on to add balance and well-being to your life. They are spiritual guidelines to be practiced daily to improve your perspective and create more positivity in your life.

Principle 1: Just for today, I will not worry.

Many of us worry about things that haven’t happened yet. Although it is easy to feel that worry comes from an external source, Reiki maintains that it starts from within.

Holding on to worry energy, thinking about future events can produce negative emotions. You may have an easier time living in the present moment if you release this energy and worry about the future.

Principle 2: Just for today, I will not be angry.

It is normal to feel angry sometimes. Anger can be triggered by many day-to-day scenarios; dealing with a rude co-worker, getting cut off in traffic, being let down by a friend.

But according to Reiki, while these outside events may trigger anger, it stems from angry energy already within you. This principle encourages you to release this energy. Recognizing rage and letting it go allows you to invite happiness into your life.

Principle 3: Just for today, I will do my work honestly.

Professional ethics and responsibilities, and honesty go hand in hand. Approach your work and perform your job to the best of your abilities and share your beneficial talents.

This principle also reminds you to be honest with yourself. Being true to yourself can lead to even more beautiful relationships within your work and personal life.

Principle 4: Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings.

Thanks is a certain kind of recognition. Although gratitude can be towards the smallest blessings you may have gotten every day, it could also be for gifts—the gift of hearing, seeing, food on the table, your family, a sunset. There are infinite reasons to be grateful in this life.

Happiness is also a way of expressing gratitude. Happiness for the simple tiny moments in life is beautiful as it is a practice, a balance, a rhythm, and order. In particular, focus on the things money cannot buy.

Principle 5: Just for today, I will be kind to my neighbor and every living thing.

According to Karmic law, what we give, we receive. Sympathy and empathy are the foundations of compassion. Compassion is regarded as love too. It has to do with humanism, societal connection, humility, and even philosophy.

Altruism is another element of compassion. There is a Golden Rule that colors compassion widely around the world. Treat others as you would have others treat you.
